Summary
The McPherson Family and Invergowrie Foundation PhD Scholarship for Women was established with a gift from the Invergowrie Foundation and is offered to domestic students who are enrolling in the Doctor of Philosophy - Engineering and IT and identify as women (cis-gender and transwomen) or non-binary. Preference is given to students who intend to undertake studies in the field of Engineering.
Benefits
This scholarship provides a fortnightly top-up stipend with a rate of $20,000 per year (full-time student rate) for up to 3 years and includes limited paid sick, maternity and parenting leave.

Eligibility and selection criteria
Eligibility
To be considered for this scholarship, you must:
- Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or an Australian permanent resident
- Be enrolling in the Doctor of Philosophy – Engineering and IT
- Identify as a woman (cis-gender or trans woman) or non-binary.
Selection criteria
The scholarship is offered to the student(s) ranked highest by the selection panel based on their application and, if required, interview. Preference is given to students undertaking research in Engineering if ranked in the top 50% or higher.
Conditions
This scholarship is subject to the University’s Graduate Research Scholarship Terms and Conditions and cannot be deferred to the following year. In addition, students must agree to the University sharing their name and course details with the donor of their scholarship and provide a note of appreciation or a brief report on the benefits of the scholarship if requested.

How to apply
You must submit an application and include:
- A personal statement addressing selection criteria relating to academic endeavour, leadership experience, development of initiatives and outcomes, creativity and innovation in solving problems, and desire to contribute to society and be an ambassador for women in STEM
- Your curriculum vitae
- A statement of support from supervisor.
You may be required to attend an interview.
