Summary

The Melbourne Foundation for Business and Economics Opportunity Scholarship was established by the Faculty of Business and Economics, and is offered to high-achieving students intending to undertake the Bachelor of Commerce, are from a regional or remote area of Australia and are experiencing disadvantaged circumstances.

Benefits

This scholarship provides a living allowance of $28,000 per year for three years paid in half-yearly instalments of $14,000 in April and September.

Eligibility and selection criteria

Eligibility

To be considered for this scholarship, you must:

  • Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • Have completed Year 12 or International Baccalaureate in Australia
  • Have completed your secondary schooling in a regional or remote area of Australia
  • Apply to commence the Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Melbourne through the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC)
  • Submit a VTAC Equity Schemes and scholarships application (formerly SEAS)
  • Meet the criteria for Access Melbourne consideration.

Selection criteria

Selection is based on academic merit (as demonstrated by ATAR or equivalent), and information provided in your VTAC Equity Schemes and scholarships application (formerly SEAS). Preference is given to students who completed their secondary education at a government school in the Goulburn Valley.

The Goulburn Valley is a sub-region, part of the Hume region of the Australian state of Victoria. The Goulburn Valley consists of five municipalities including: City of Greater Shepparton, Mitchell Shire, Moira Shire, Murrindindi Shire and Strathbogie Shire.

You will be automatically considered, if you have applied for admission in the award year and are eligible for Access Melbourne consideration.

When will I know the outcome?

Successful applicants will be contacted via email during December/January. Unsuccessful applicants will not be contacted.
