Melbourne Medical Postgraduate Committee Gordon-Taylor Scholarship

Established by an anonymous donor in memory of the late Sir Gordon Gordon-Taylor, a British surgeon whose lifetime interest in Australia and Australian doctors advanced the standards of medicine and surgery in this country. This scholarship supports medical graduates undertaking a graduate research degree in the in the fields of medicine and/or surgery, with up to approximately $5,800.

  • Eligibility & selection criteria

    Eligibility

    To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

    • be an outstanding graduate research applicant, or a currently enrolled graduate researcher, of the Melbourne Medical School, Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences.
    • be a medical graduate
    • satisfy the Faculty's entry requirements for PhD

    Selection criteria

    Eligible applicants will be assessed on academic merit, faculty scholarship score, demonstrated skill in the relevant research area, career aspiration, and the terms and conditions of the trust.

    The selection committee will base its assessment on the application form, academic transcripts, faculty scholarship score, project proposal, CV and referee reports.

  • Application process

    Commencing students will be automatically considered.

    Continuing students must complete an online application for Graduate Research Scholarships.

    Recipients of trust-funded scholarships are required to reapply by 31 October each year or their scholarship funding will cease.

  • When will I know the outcome?

    Successful candidates will be advised of the outcome of their application according to the Faculty's published timelines.

A fortnightly allowance for up to 1 year, totalling approximately $5,800.
