Summary
Donor: Dr Anne Brooks, an ophthalmologist from Melbourne East, donated $100,000 to the University with the purpose of establishing The Nancy Lewis Scholarship fund to be used to provide an annual scholarship(s) for a medical student(s) enrolled in the Doctor of Medicine or equivalent in the Melbourne Medical School, University of Melbourne. The donation memorialises the donors late mother Dr Nancy Lewis who was also an ophthalmologist.

Eligibility and selection criteria
Eligibility
Open to medical students enrolled in the Doctor of Medicine degree or equivalent and awarded based on:
- academic excellence,
- financial need, and
- sustained involvement while at university in a significant extra-curricular activity such as sport or music.
Selection criteria
Recipients will be selected by the Melbourne Medical School Scholarships and Bursary Allocation Committee made up of senior professional and academic staff members of the School. The selection of recipients is based on the applicant’s extra-curricular activities involvement and financial aid ranking as provided by the University Scholarships office.
Conditions
Students are asked to submit a personal statement as part of the Nancy Lewis Scholarship application form.
