The Nancy Millis Agricultural Students Scholarship was established with an anonymous gift and is awarded to Australian students who are enrolled in Agriculture, are from a regional or remote area, and are experiencing disadvantaged circumstances.
About the donor
Emeritus Professor Nancy Millis AC MBE (1922-2012), is a agricultural science alum, distinguished microbiologist, pioneering biotechnologist, and renowned educator.
Benefits
This scholarship provides a living allowance of between $2500 and $5000 per year for up to three years for the Bachelor of Agriculture and up to 1.5 years for the Master of Agriculture, paid in half-yearly instalments in April and September.

Eligibility and selection criteria
Eligibility
To be considered for this scholarship, you must:
- Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident or the holder of an Australian temporary or permanent protection visa
- Be enrolled in the Bachelor of Agriculture or Master of Agricultural Sciences in the year for which the scholarship is awarded
- Have a home address in a regional or remote area based on the Australian Standard Geographic Classification^ for at least three of the past five years.
^ Classification of remoteness area is available from the Department of Health and Ageing website.
Selection criteria
The scholarship is offered to the eligible student(s) ranked highest based on their University Student Financial Assessment ranking.
In the event of a tie, the scholarship will be split equally.
In the interest of equitable distribution of scholarships, other scholarships or prizes received from the University by candidates are considered.
Conditions
This scholarship is subject to the University Coursework Scholarships Terms and Conditions and cannot be deferred. In addition, recipients must:
- Agree to the University sharing their name and course details with the donor of their scholarship and provide a note of appreciation or a brief report on the benefits of the scholarship if requested.
