Summary
The Patricia Eileen Hyams Scholarships in Cancer & Palliative Care Nursing was established in 2016 by The Bruce Hyams Foundation, made a gift to honor Mrs Patricia Hyams, who completed her training at St Vincent's Hospital in Melbourne as a registered nurse and graduated in 1939.

Eligibility and selection criteria
Eligibility
To be considered for this scholarship, you must:
- admitted to the Graduate Certificate in Cancer Nursing (GC-CNCRNUR)* and,
- have completed the first subject in the course, NURS90076 Applied Pathophysiology, and
- residing in a rural or remote location**
In the case where there are no rural or remote applicants undertaking the Graduate Certificate in Cancer Nursing (GC-CNCRNUR)* in any given year, the scholarships may be awarded to candidates residing in a rural or remote location undertaking:
To be considered for this scholarship, you must:
- the Graduate Certificate in Palliative Care GC-PALCARE; or
- any other Graduate Certificate in Nursing Practice courses.
* Student must be accepted and have commenced studies in order to receive the scholarship.
**A rural or remote area is defined as an area with a Remote Areas (ASGD-RA) Australian Standard Geographic Classification of: RA2 – Inner Regional, RA3 – Outer Regional, RA4 – Remote, or RA5 – Very Remote.
Selection criteria
The scholarship will be awarded to the student undertaking the Graduate Certificate in Cancer Nursing (GC-CNCRNUR):
- who has achieved the highest mark in NURS90076 Applied Pathophysiology, and
- who continues their enrolment in this course.
If there are no candidates from the above category, the scholarship will be awarded to a student in GC-PALCARE Graduate Certificate in Palliative Care:
- who has achieved the highest mark in NURS90046 Fundamentals of Palliative Care, and
- who continues their enrolment in this course.
If there are no candidates from the above two categories, the scholarship will be awarded to a student in any other Graduate Certificate in Nursing Practice course who has achieved the highest mark in NURS90076 Applied Pathophysiology.

How to apply
Applicants are required to apply online via the Application Form and provide evidence of residing in a rural or remote location.

When will I know the outcome?
Successful recipients will be notified in writing in due time after the closing date. Scholarships are formally presented at a Department of Nursing ceremony in May. Successful recipients are expected to attend this event.
