Summary

The Professor David Penington Scholarship was established with a gift from David Penington AC and is awarded to students who are enrolled in the Doctor of Medicine and are experiencing immediate financial disadvantage.

About the donor

Professor Penington is an alum of the University and a former Vice- Chancellor and Dean of the Faculty of MDHS. To provide scholarships for enrolling graduate coursework students who intend to undertake the Doctor of Medicine and are experiencing financial disadvantage. The Professor David Penington Scholarships are intended to support students for the duration of the four-year Doctor of Medicine.

Benefits

This scholarship provides a living allowance of $10,000 a year for four years, paid in half-yearly instalments of $5000 in April and September.

Eligibility and selection criteria

Eligibility

To be considered for this scholarship, you must be enrolled in the Doctor of Medicine.

Selection criteria

The scholarship is offered to the eligible candidate(s) ranked highest by the selection panel based on their overall disadvantage.

Conditions

This scholarship cannot be deferred. Recipients:

  • Must agree to the University providing their name and course details with the donor of their scholarship and provide a note of appreciation and a brief annual report on the benefits of the scholarship by submitting an official statement of thanks
  • May be requested to meet with the donor on occasion.
