Eligibility and selection criteria

Eligibility

To be considered for this prize, you must:

  • Be conferred a Master of Science (Mathematics and Statistics) research training program, and
  • As part of the masters program, completed a substantial research project that significantly aligns to the discipline of pure or applied mathematics.

Students enrolled at the university for more than 7 years, as of the 1st of January in any given year, will not be considered for this prize.

Selection criteria

The prize will be offered to the student who is ranked highest by the selection panel based on the marks for the research component and on the statement from the thesis examiners commenting on the qualities of the research component, such as mastery of the subject, contribution to the field of Mathematics or Statistics, and quality of the presentation of their research.


When determining the successful candidate for this this award, other awards received by candidates are considered.
