  • Eligibility & selection criteria

    Eligibility

    To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

    • be an Australian citizen or permanent resident;
    • be a graduate of or be currently enrolled at the University of Melbourne;
    • intend to undertake a graduate degree or research in England Scotland Wales and Northern Ireland; and
    • not have completed a course of study at the same or higher level as the proposed overseas study.

    Selection criteria

    The scholarships are awarded to eligible candidates on the basis of academic merit, quality of the application and financial position.

    Rae and Edith Bennett

    Rae Gillbee Bennett was formerly of Auckland in New Zealand and later resident in Victoria, a retired bank manager, bequeathed to the University the residue of his estate. Edith Guinevere Constance Bennett, the widow of Rae Gillbee Bennett, bequeathed to the University a portion of her residuary estate.

What are the benefits?

An allowance of up to $30,000 per year for the duration of the overseas study. The value may be varied depending on the circumstances of the applicants. The allowance is paid in two instalments, usually in May and October.
