Summary
The Richard Simmie PhD Scholarship for Australian Architectural History was established with a gift from Richard Simmie and is awarded to talented graduate researchers who are enrolling in a Doctor of Philosophy in the field of Australian architectural history.
Benefits
This scholarship provides the following benefits:
- A fortnightly stipend with a rate of $41,100 per year pro rata (2027 full-time rate) for up to 3.5 years for students undertaking a doctoral degree. The living allowance may be indexed annually and includes limited paid sick, parental and partner leave
- A one-off relocation allowance of $2,000 for students moving from States or Territories other than Victoria or $3,000 for students moving from outside Australia
- Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) Single Membership for international students who require a student visa to study in Australia.

Eligibility and selection criteria
Eligibility
To be considered for this scholarship, you must:
- Have met entry requirements and be enrolling in the Doctor of Philosophy – Architecture, Building and Planning in the year in which the scholarship is awarded
- Be undertaking research in the field of Australian architectural history.
Selection criteria
The scholarship is offered to the eligible candidate(s) ranked highest by the selection panel based on their scholarship score, application and performance at interview.
In the interest of equitable distribution of scholarships, other scholarships or prizes received from the University by candidates are considered.

Conditions
This scholarship is subject to the University’s Graduate Research Scholarship Terms and Conditions and can be deferred to the following academic year with prior approval from the University. In addition, recipients must agree to the University sharing their name and course details with the donor of their scholarship and provide a note of appreciation or a brief report on the benefits of the scholarship if requested.
