Summary
The Robert Richter Scholarship is awarded to high-achieving students who are enrolling in the Juris Doctor and are experiencing disadvantaged circumstances.
About the donor
Mr Richter graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws with honours in 1969. Throughout his career he has made an enormous contribution both within and beyond the legal profession. He has acted in some of the most high-profile criminal cases in Australian history and in 2012 was inducted as a Victorian Bar Legend.
Benefits
This scholarship provides a one-off allowance of $9000, paid in two instalments of $4500 in April and September. The first instalment will be split in $1500 as an establishment allowance paid shortly after enrolment and $3000 in April or September.

Eligibility
To be considered for this scholarship, you must:
- Have applied for the Juris Doctor through Graduate Access Melbourne (GAM) under the 'Disadvantaged socio-economic circumstances' category and submitted the Disadvantaged Socio-economic Circumstances Supplementary Form
- Meet the Graduate Access Melbourne entry requirements for the Juris Doctor

The scholarship is awarded on the basis of both academic merit and demonstrated financial need.
