Robin D. Hocking Scholarship

The family, friends and colleagues in the University and Ormond College established this scholarship in memory of the life and work of Robin Douglas Hocking, a lecturer in the faculty of Economics and Commerce and the Director of Studies in Economics in Ormond College.

The University of Melbourne and Ormond College offer this annual memorial scholarship to a student intending to undertake the Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) or the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) specialising in Economics, or a student who will enter the final year of the Bachelor of Commerce specialising in Economics.

    Eligibility

    To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

    • Be a student who will
      • undertake the Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) specialising in Economics in 2024, or
      • undertake the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) specialising in Economics in 2024, or
      • enter their final year of the Bachelor of Commerce specialising in Economics in 2024
    • Be a resident member of Ormond College (candidates do not need to be a resident at the time of application)

    Selection criteria

    The selection committee includes representatives from the Faculty of Business and Economics and Ormond College. Selection is based on academic merit and interview performance.

    • Please submit an online application to the Faculty including:
      • a cover letter
      • your resume
      • your academic record (available from the student portal)
    • Students must also apply for accommodation at Ormond College
  • When will I know the outcome?

    Shortlisted applicants will be advised in February/March 2024 and invited to attend an interview.
