Rugby Young Achiever Award

This scholarship, worth up to $10,000, is awarded to the student rugby player in Year 12 at an Australian school who best exemplifies the characteristics that made Lieutenant Colonel Sir Ernest Edward "Weary" Dunlop famous: academic endeavour, leadership, and sporting excellence. It is awarded through the University's Elite Athlete Program.

  • Eligibility & selection criteria

    Eligibility

    To be eligible for this scholarship, you need to:

    • be an Australian citizen or permanent resident in Year 12 at a school in Australia who plays rugby
    • enrol to study at the University in 2019 and join the Melbourne University Rugby Football Club for the 2019 season

    Selection criteria

    Supporting material taken into consideration will include:

    • Details of sporting, leadership and community achievements
    • Endorsement of a club or school coach
    • Endorsement of a school teacher or coordinator
  • Application process

    Complete an application form online and submit it with the necessary supporting documentation by the due date.

What are the benefits?

Payment of up to $10,000, including:

  • A $2500 tertiary scholarship from the University of Melbourne
  • A $2500 rugby scholarship from the Melbourne University Rugby Football Club
  • A $5000 Melbourne University Sport Winged Victory Scholarship.
