Summary
The Hordern Work Integrated Learning Award was established with a gift from the Aranday Foundation and is offered to Australian students from a regional or remote area of Australia who are undertaking work integrated learning experience as part of the Bachelor of Commerce.
Benefits
This grant provides a one-off payment of:
- $4000 for second year students undertaking a minimum 90-hour placement during the teaching period as part of the Commerce Internships (CMCE20001).
- $5,000 for second or third year students undertaking a two-week International Business Experience (IBUS20007).
- $7,000 for students undertaking Global Management Consulting (MGMT30017).

Eligibility and selection criteria
Eligibility
To be considered for this award, you must:
- Be an Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident
- Be enrolled in the Bachelor of Commerce (or its successor)
- Have an Academic Status of Good Standing
- Be living or have lived in a regional or remote area of Australia (based on the Australian Standard Geographic Classification).
Selection criteria
The award is offered to the student(s) ranked highest by the selection panel based on their course Weighted Average Mark (WAM) and personal statement.
Conditions
Students must:
- Undertake the Work Integrated Learning Experience for which the grant was awarded
- Agree to the University sharing their name and course details with the donor of their scholarship and provide a note of appreciation or a brief report on the benefits of the scholarship if requested.

How to apply
The Samuel and June Hordern Work Integrated Learning Awards will provide funding for the following programs in 2026 -
- International Business Experience grants (IBUS20007)
- Currently closed for applications - Global Management Consulting grants (MGMT30017)
- Currently closed for applications - Commerce Internships grants (CMCE20001)
- For 2nd year BCom students only
- Open for applications from 27 May to 12 July.

- your residential address at the time of completing secondary school
- a brief personal statement (one A4 page maximum) addressing the impact of your current circumstances on your studies and how a Samuel and June Hordern Work Integrated Learning Award may benefit you. Please also describe what you hope to achieve through the grant program that you are applying for funding for.
