Summary

The Sarah Schick Award is offered to talented students who are enrolled in the third year of the Bachelor of Commerce (Finance), identify as a woman or non-binary, and can demonstrate leadership experience and potential.

About the donor

Sarah Schick was a valued and respected member of the global energy, infrastructure and project finance market. She held senior positions at leading organisations including KPMG, Meridiam, Rothschild and Macquarie, and was a Director of Plenary Group Holdings in Australia. Plenary Group are the sponsors of this award which honours her contributions and which recognises and supports high-achieving female students enrolled in their final year of a Finance major in the Bachelor of Commerce.

Benefits

This award provides a living allowance of $10,000 for one year, paid in half-yearly instalments after the census dates in Semester 1 and 2. Plenary Group may also offer the awardee the opportunity to undertake an internship at an agreed time. Internees will be paid at appropriate rates.

Eligibility and selection criteria

Eligibility

To be considered for this award, you must:

Be enrolled in the Bachelor of Commerce and majoring in Finance.
Be enrolling into your 3rd year of study in 2027 as a full time student and have completed at least 200 points of study and ideally no more than 212.5.
Have completed or be enrolled in a minimum of three Finance subjects.
Identify as a woman (cis-gender or trans women) or non-binary.

Selection criteria

The award is offered to the student ranked highest by the selection panel based on their application, interview and Weighted Average Mark (WAM).

Conditions

This award cannot be deferred. Students must:

Be enrolled in their 3rd year of the Bachelor of Commerce
Agree to the University sharing their name and the name of their course with the donor of this scholarship and, if requested, provide a note of appreciation or a brief report on the benefits of the scholarship.

Please ensure that you have completed the recommended sequence of subjects in Year 1 and Year 2 of the BCom to enable you to Major in Finance in your 3rd year in 2027.

Here are the Year 3 subjects for a Major in Finance:
- FNCE30001 Investments
- FNCE30007 Derivative Securities
- 1 x Level-3 Finance subject
- 3 x Commerce electives (ECOM30002 Econometrics 2 is compulsory if you want to undertake Honours in Finance)
- 1 x Breadth or Commerce elective
- 1 x Breadth subject
