Summary
The Sheppard M Lowe Scholarship was established with a gift from Sheppard Millar Lowe and is awarded to graduate researchers who are undertaking research in the field of diabetes mellitus.
Benefits
This scholarship provides a fortnightly stipend with a rate of approximately $5,000 per year (pro rata full-time rate) for 3.5 years.

Eligibility and selection criteria
Eligibility
To be considered for this scholarship, you must:
- Be enrolled in a graduate research degree in the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences and undertaking research in the field of diabetes mellitus in the year for which the scholarship is awarded
- Be the recipient of a research scholarship (e.g. NHMRC, RTP) or other scholarship that provides equivalent funding sufficient to complete the degree.
Selection criteria
The scholarship is offered to the eligible candidate(s) ranked highest based on their faculty scholarship score.
In the event of a tie, the scholarship will be split equally.
Conditions
This scholarship is subject to the MDHS Graduate Research Trust Scholarships Terms and Conditions and cannot be deferred to the following academic year. In addition, recipients must:
- Agree to the University sharing their name and course details with the donor of their scholarship and provide a note of appreciation or a brief report on the benefits of the scholarship if requested.
