This scholarship, part of the Acclaim operatic awards program, is awarded annually at a competition of Australia's highest quality classical singing honours and masters students.

Eligibility and selection criteria

Eligibility

To be considered for this award, you must:

  • be an Australian citizen aged18–25
  • be a classical bel canto singing student at honours or masters level enrolled in the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music

Selection criteria

Shortlisted candidates will be judged at audition on two Italian opera arias of their choice, on the following criteria:

  • artistic interpretation
  • demonstration of technical ability
  • demonstration of comprehension of the pieces
  • interpretation of the meaning of the pieces
  • best performance on the day
  • who demonstrates the most potential of all candidates to be able to achieve an international opera career.

Students shortlisted for this award will also be considered for the Harold Fisher Memorial Opera Scholarship,
