Eligibility and selection criteria
Eligibility
To be considered for this award, you must be enrolled as a Master of Music (Performance Teaching) or PhD student in Music (specialising in conducting) in the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music.
Selection criteria
The award is offered to the student(s) ranked highest by the selection panel based on conducting ability demonstrated in their application (video performance submission), standard of musicality and potential to further develop their conducting skills.
Conditions
The recipient is required to conduct and provide tutoring for part or all of the week at that year's annual State Music Camp, held in late June/ early July annually at Melbourne Grammar School. Recipients must hold a current Working With Children Card (WWCC). The recipient will be asked to prepare a Personal Reflection on the experience of participating in the camp to be submitted to the camp and appropriate academic staff within one month of completing the camp. This reflection will highlight the student’s personal experience, growth and challenges throughout and also provide an opportunity to articulate feedback to the camp on the successes and any failures of the experience, to benefit the future student learning experience.
