Summary
The Stella Mary Langford Scholarship was established with a bequest from Stella Mary Langford, and is offered to students with outstanding academic record and excellent research potential who are enrolling in a graduate research degree.
About the donor
Stella Mary Langford, who completed a Master of Arts of the University of Melbourne, bequeathed three-tenths of her residuary estate to the university to establish the 'Stella Mary Langford Scholarship' for high-achieving students undertaking graduate research study.
Benefits
- Living allowance of $44,500 per year pro rata (2026 full-time study rate) for up to 2 years for students undertaking a Master by research degree or up to 3.5 years for students undertaking a Doctoral degree. The living allowance may be indexed annually and includes limited paid sick, maternity and parenting leave.
- Relocation grant of $2,000 for students moving from States or Territories other than Victoria or $3,000 for students moving from outside Australia.

Eligibility
To be considered for this scholarship, you must:
- be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
- have received an offer for a graduate research degree commencing in the year for which the scholarship is awarded
- have not already completed a research qualification at the same or higher level as the course for which a scholarship is sought
Selection criteria
This scholarship is offered to the candidate(s) ranked highest based on their course entry score.

If you have applied for admission to a graduate research degree by 31 October for commencement in the following year, you will be automatically considered for this scholarships.
