Summary
The Summer Vacation Scholarship: Neural Dynamics Laboratory supports research projects conducted within the Neural Dynamics Laboratory. The scholarship aims to equip students with advanced laboratory techniques in basic neuroscience, to promote cross-disciplinary approaches to neurological diseases and to facilitate the understanding of research conduct and engagement.

Eligibility and selection criteria
Eligibility
To be considered for this scholarship, undergraduate (i.e., Science, Biomedical Science) and postgraduate (i.e., Medical, Masters) students must display a strong interest and understanding of basic neuroscience and neurological diseases.
Selection criteria
Academic merit and previous experience (research, clinical) relevant to this field of research will be considered.
Conditions
The student will work on the design, execution and analysis of a series of experiments (including patch clamping, tissue culture) under the supervision of Dr Chris French, Head of the Neural Dynamics Laboratory, Melbourne Brain Centre. Extensive teaching and tutorial opportunities in advanced neuroscience from ion channel behaviour to electrophysiological biomarkers of cognition will be available. The scholarship will be held for 4 weeks by arrangement with Dr Chris French. The work performed is not for credit. A report of the work is required at the end of the scholarship period.
