Summary

The Telstra Masters Scholarship is supported by Telstra and offered to domestic students who are enrolling in a masters degree with the Faculty of Engineering and IT and are experiencing disadvantaged circumstances. Preference is given to Indigenous students or students from a regional or remote area of Australia.

Benefits

This scholarship provides a living allowance of $10,000 per year for two years, paid in half-yearly instalments of $5000 in April and September.

Eligibility and selection criteria

Eligibility

To be considered for this scholarship, you must:

  • Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • Be enrolled in your first semester of study in one of the Master of Electrical Engineering, Master of Mechatronics Engineering, Master of Software Engineering, Master of Information Systems, Master of Information Technology, or Master of Computer Science (or their successors)
  • Be enrolled in at least 25 credit points at the time of application.

Selection criteria

The scholarship is offered to the student(s) ranked highest by the selection panel based on their financial assessment score and personal statement and, if required, interview. Indigenous students or students from regional or remote areas of Australia (Remoteness Area 2 or higher) are given preference if ranked in the top 30 percent of eligible applications.

Conditions

This scholarship is subject to the FEIT Scholarship Terms and Conditions and cannot be deferred to the following year. In addition, students must:

  • Maintain a minimum load of 25 points per half-year study period
  • Agree to the University sharing their name and course details with the donor of their scholarship and provide a note of appreciation or a brief report on the benefits of the scholarship if requested.

Application

How to apply

You must submit the FEIT Student Financial Assessment form and an application, and provide a personal statement addressing:

  • The impact of disadvantaged circumstances of your ability to study (including supporting documents)
  • How the scholarship will contribute to your study and career aspirations and how these goals align with your understanding of Telstra's core values

Shortlisted applicants may be requested to attend an interview.

When will I know the outcome?

All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application approximately four to six weeks after the application close date.
