Carol Willesee PhD Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Amy Rebecca Willesee, Lucy Charlotte Willesee and Joanna Claire Willesee who organised an appeal in memory of their mother, Carol Dorothy Mackay Willesee (nee Bett). The scholarship is awarded to Australian students undertaking a graduate research degree in prion disease and provides students financial support of up to $9,500.

  • Eligibility & selection criteria

    Eligibility

    To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

    • currently enrolled as a graduate researcher in prion disease, within the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences
    • be a recipient of a multi-year scholarship such as NHMRC Scholarship, RTP scholarship, or other scholarship that provides equivalent funding sufficient to complete the degree

    Selection criteria

    Eligible applicants are selected on the basis of academic merit, faculty scholarship score, demonstrated skill in the relevant research area, career aspiration and the terms and conditions of the trust.

    The selection committee will base its assessment on the application form, academic transcripts, the faculty scholarship score and the student's project proposal, CV and referee reports.

    Recipients of trust-funded scholarships are required to reapply by 31 October each year or their scholarship funding will cease.

  • When will I know the outcome?

    Successful candidates will be advised of the outcome of their application according to the Faculty's published timelines.

A fortnightly allowance of approximately $9,500 per year for up to 1 year.
