RB McComas Research Scholarship in Ophthalmology

This scholarship was established with a donation from descendants of the late Robert Bond McComas C.M.G. It is awarded to Australian students undertaking postgraduate study in Ophthalmology under the direction of the Ringland Anderson Professor of Ophthalmology. Successful students will be awarded support of up to $36,000.

  • Eligibility & selection criteria

    Eligibility

    To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

    • be a graduate research applicant, or be currently enrolled as a graduate researcher, in the Department of Ophthalmology, Melbourne Medical School, Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences
    • satisfy the Faculty's entry requirements for PhD

    Selection criteria

    Eligible applicants are selected on the basis of academic merit, the faculty scholarship score, demonstrated skill in the relevant research area, career aspiration and the terms and conditions of the trust.

    The selection committee will base its assessment on the application form, academic transcripts, the faculty scholarship score and the student's project proposal, CV and referee reports.

  • Application process

    This scholarship is administered by the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences. Please request an application form from mdhs-scholarships@unimelb.edu.au.

  • When will I know the outcome?

    Successful candidates will be advised of the outcome of their application according to the Faculty's published timelines.

What are the benefits?

A fortnightly allowance totalling at approximately $31,518 for up to 1 year.
