Summary

The Robert and Johanna Exiner Scholarship is offered to undergraduate students undertaking German studies who require travel to Germany.

About the donor

The Robert and Johanna Exiner scholarship was established by James and Ron Exiner on behalf of Exintel Pty Ltd and Exincorp Pty Ltd. The scholarship acknowledges the great pleasure their father, Robert, derived from studying German at the University between 1976 and 1998. Robert's affinity with German language and culture as a young person was adversely affected by the historical circumstances prevailing earlier in his life.

The Anita Rodgers Scholarship was established in 1990 by Dr Anita Rodgers, former senior lecturer in Science German and Science French in the department of Science Languages; to assist students of German to further their studies by studying in Germany.

Recipient feedback

I am currently studying a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Melbourne majoring in German and Psychology. I am learning German as Germany offers numerous master programs in Psych. With this in mind, if I became fluent in German I could potentially study over there in the future. It is also a really fun language to learn. I feel an exchange would benefit me in many ways. It would broaden my life experience, step me out of my comfort zone and provide so many rare opportunities that one could only experience on exchange.
