Summary

​​The Sir Thomas Naghten Fitzgerald Scholarship was established with a gift from Kathleen Maggie Douglas in memory of her father and is awarded to domestic graduate researchers who are undertaking research in the field of surgical studies.​

Benefits

​​This ​scholarship​ provides a fortnightly stipend with a rate of approximately $5,000 per year (full-time student rate) for 3.5 years.​

Eligibility and selection criteria

Eligibility

To be considered for this scholarship, you must:

  • Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident
  • Have received an offer for, or be currently enrolled in, the Doctor of Philosophy – Medicine and undertaking research in the field of surgical studies in the year for which the scholarship is awarded
  • Have completed a degree in medicine.

Selection criteria

The ​scholarship​ is offered to the student(s) ranked highest ​based on​ their faculty scholarship score.

In the event of a tie, the scholarship will be split equally.

Conditions

​​This scholarship is subject to the MDHS Graduate Research Trust Scholarships Terms and Conditions and cannot be deferred to the following academic year. In addition, recipients must:

  • ​Agree to the University sharing their name and course details with the donor of their scholarship and provide a note of appreciation or a brief report on the benefits of the scholarship if requested.​
