The Diwaliben Gordhanbhai Patel Access Scholarship was established with a gift from Utsav Patel and is offered to domestic students who are enrolling in a bachelor degree and are experiencing disadvantaged circumstances.
Benefits
This scholarship provides a living allowance of $10,000 per year for three years (paid in half-yearly instalments of $5,000).

Eligibility and selection criteria
Eligibility
To be considered for this scholarship, you must:
- be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or a holder of an Australian permanent visa
- have completed Year 12 or International Baccalaureate in Australia
- not have completed subjects undertaken as part of a tertiary course (excludes extension program subjects)
- have applied for a University of Melbourne bachelor degree via VTAC Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS) for commencement in the year following completion of Year 12 or International Baccalaureate
- meet the Access Melbourne entry requirements for the University of Melbourne course nominated in your VTAC application
Selection criteria
This scholarship is offered to eligible candidates with the highest overall level of disadvantage based on the information provided in their VTAC SEAS application.
Conditions
This scholarship is subject to the University’s Coursework Scholarship Terms and Conditions and can be deferred to the following academic year. In addition, students must agree to the University sharing their name and course details with the donor of their scholarship and to provide a brief report on the benefits of the scholarship if requested.

How to apply
Students are automatically considered if they have applied for admission to the University via VTAC Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS).
When will I know the outcome?
Scholarship offers are made a few days after the Victorian Year 12 ATAR are released in December. Further offers are made in January and February to students who have completed IB or Year 12 at a school outside Victoria.
