Eligibility
To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:
- be enrolled at the University of Melbourne
- provide evidence of financial need
Selection criteria
Eligible students are selected on the basis of financial need.
Conditions
- You must be enrolled as a full-time student in a course at the University of Melbourne. You may be eligible to receive this scholarship while enrolled as a part-time student.
- This scholarship cannot be deferred to the following year.
- You must provide a brief report on the benefits of the scholarship and give permission for the University to provide the report, your name and course details to the donor.

About the donor
The University of Melbourne USA Foundation
The University of Melbourne USA Foundation is a non-profit organisation with a mission to support education, and specifically includes fundraising to support the University of Melbourne, in Australia.
The University of Melbourne USA Foundation granted a sum to establish the 'John R Irwin Scholarship', the grant was made possible by a gift to the foundation by John Irwin. The scholarship was requested to fund an annual scholarship for students who are studying a graduate degree under the Melbourne Model curriculum.
The University of Melbourne USA Foundation granted a sum to establish 'The Sheridan Family Student Assistance Fund' to be used to assist students with demonstrated financial need. The grant was made possible by a gift to the foundation from the Sheridan family. Dr William Sheridan graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the university and was a director of the foundation.
