Summary

The Irene and Arthur Kinsman Award for Postgraduate Studies was established with a bequest from Mavis Kinsman, and is offered to graduates from the University of Melbourne who identify as a woman, are enrolling in a graduate degree in social sciences and are experiencing disadvantaged circumstances.

Benefits

A living allowance of $5000 per year the full-time duration of your course, paid in half-yearly instalments of $2500. The duration of the scholarship will be reduced by study undertaken previously and credited towards your course.

Eligibility and selection criteria

Eligibility

To be considered for this award, you must:

  • an Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • identify as a woman
  • be a graduate of the University of Melbourne
  • have applied for or be enrolled in a graduate degree by coursework in Social Sciences at the University of Melbourne
  • have at least twelve months of full-time equivalent study remaining to complete your course

Selection criteria

The scholarship is offered to the student(s) who are ranked highest by the selection panel based on the quality of their application and their level of disadvantage.

Conditions

This scholarships are subject to the Coursework Scholarship Conditions. In addition, you must agree to give permission for the University to provide your name and course details to the donor of your scholarship and to provide a brief report on the benefits of the scholarship if requested.

You must submit a Coursework Access Scholarships application.

Applications usually open in November.

When will I know the outcome?

Students will be notified of the outcome of their application by 26 February. Reasons for non-selection and feedback on individual applications will not be provided.
