Summary

The Irene and Arthur Kinsman Award for Postgraduate Studies was established with a bequest from Irene Mavis Kinsman, and is offered to students who are graduates from the University of Melbourne, identify as a woman, are enrolling in a graduate degree in social sciences, and are experiencing disadvantaged circumstances.

Benefits

A living allowance of $5000 per year the full-time duration of your course, paid in half-yearly instalments of $2500. The duration of the scholarship will be reduced by study undertaken previously and credited towards your course.

Eligibility and selection criteria

Eligibility

To be considered for this award, you must:

  • Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • Identify as a woman
  • Be a graduate of the University of Melbourne
  • Have received an offer for a graduate degree by coursework in Social Sciences commencing in the year for which the scholarship is awarded.

Selection criteria

The scholarship is offered to the student(s) who are ranked highest by the selection panel based on the quality of their application.

Conditions

This scholarships are subject to the Coursework Scholarship Conditions. In addition, you must agree to give permission for the University to provide your name and course details to the donor of your scholarship and to provide a brief report on the benefits of the scholarship if requested.

You must submit a Coursework Access Scholarships application, and include a personal statement and supporting documentation outlining any disadvantaged circumstances that affects your ability to study, and explaining how the scholarship will assist you in achieving your personal and academic aspirations.

Students will be notified of the outcome of their application by the end of February. Reasons for non-selection and feedback on individual applications will not be provided.
