Summary
The Irene and Arthur Kinsman Award for Postgraduate Studies was established with a bequest from Mavis Kinsman, and is offered to female graduates from the University of Melbourne who intend to undertake graduate study in social sciences.
Benefits
A living allowance of $2,500 per half year for the standard full-time duration of your course. The duration of the scholarship will be reduced by study undertaken previously and credited towards your course.

Eligibility and selection criteria
Eligibility
To be considered for this award, you must:
- be a female graduate of the University of Melbourne
- an Australian citizen or permanent resident
- have applied for or be enrolled in a graduate degree by coursework in Social Sciences at the University of Melbourne
- have at least twelve months of full-time equivalent study remaining to complete your course
- be experiencing compassionate or compelling circumstances (e.g. having primary care responsibilities for a dependent, medical condition, disability, or personal or financial difficulties)
Selection criteria
Eligible candidates are selected on the basis on their overall level of disadvantage and academic merit.
Conditions
This scholarships are subject to the Coursework Scholarship Conditions. In addition, you must agree to give permission for the University to provide your name and course details to the donor of your scholarship and to provide a brief report on the benefits of the scholarship if requested.

Students will be notified of the outcome of their application by 26 February. Reasons for non-selection and feedback on individual applications will not be provided.
