Summary
The Monika Law Scholarship was established with a gift from Monika Law and is awarded to Indigenous students who are enrolled in a graduate degree by coursework, identify as a woman and are experiencing disadvantaged circumstances.
Benefits
This scholarship provides a living allowance of $10,000 a year for the full-time duration of the course, paid in half-yearly instalments of $5000 in April and September.

Eligibility and selection criteria
Eligibility
To be considered for this scholarship, you must:
- Be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person by descent, identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, and be accepted as such by the community in which you live or have lived
- Identify as a woman (cis-gender and trans women)
- Have received an offer for a graduate degree by coursework at the University of Melbourne in the year for which the scholarship is awarded.
Selection criteria
The scholarship is offered to the eligible candidate(s) ranked highest by the selection panel based on their overall level of disadvantage.
Conditions
This scholarship is subject the Coursework Scholarship Terms and Conditions and can be deferred. In addition, the student must:
- Affirm and maintain their eligibility for support for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. See: Confirming your eligibility.
- Agree to the University sharing their name and course details with the donor of their scholarship and to provide a brief report on the benefits of the scholarship if requested.

How to apply
You must submit a Coursework Access Scholarships application, and include a personal statement and supporting documentation outlining any disadvantaged circumstances that affects their ability to study and explaining how the scholarship will assist them in achiving their personal and academic aspirations.
