Summary

The scholarship was established with a gift from Paul and Angela Wheelton and is offered to domestic students who are enrolling in a bachelor degree, experiencing disadvantaged circumstances, and residing at International House. Preference is given to students who are enrolling in the Bachelor of Commerce.

Benefits

The scholarship provides:

  • an accommodation allowance for full standard accommodation at International House for three years, paid directly to the provider
  • a living allowance of $10,000 per year for three years, paid in half-yearly instalments of $5,000

Eligibility and selection criteria

Eligibility

To be considered for this scholarship, you must:

  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or a holder of an Australian permanent visa
  • have completed Year 12 or International Baccalaureate in Australia
  • not have completed subjects undertaken as part of a tertiary course
  • have applied for a University of Melbourne bachelor degree via the VTAC Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS) for commencement in the year following completion of Year 12 or International Baccalaureate
  • meet the Access Melbourne entry requirements for the University of Melbourne bachelor degree nominated in their VTAC application
  • have applied for and received an offer for a place at International House

Selection criteria

The scholarship is offered to eligible students with the highest overall disadvantage score based on the information provided in their VTAC SEAS application. Students enrolling in the Bachelor of Commerce will be given preference if ranked fifth or higher.

Conditions

This scholarship is subject to the Coursework Scholarships Terms & Conditions and can be deferred to the following academic year. In addition, students must agree to the University sharing their name and the name of their course with the donor of this scholarship and continue to reside at International House.

How to apply

Students are automatically considered if they have applied for a place at International House and for admission to the University via VTAC Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS).

When will I know the outcome?

Scholarship offers are made shortly after the Victorian Year 12 ATAR are released in December. Further offers are made from December onwards to students who have completed IB or Year 12 at a school outside Victoria.
