  • Eligibility & selection criteria

    Eligibility

    To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

    • be an enrolled PhD - Science student (MPhil students are not eligible);
    • be confirmed in your candidature;
    • undertake travel before your maximum course duration date;
    • undertake travel before award of PhD; and,
    • submit your application before submitting your thesis.

    Note:

    *Graduate researchers may apply for and receive multiple Science Abroad Travelling Scholarships but the total payment over the course of their candidature may not exceed $2,000.

    *Graduate Researchers need to apply for Study Away if travelling for research-related activities away from the University.

    Selection criteria

    Schools in the Faculty of Science independently rank applications for the awarding of Science Abroad Traveling Scholarship.

    Limited number of awards available per school. We encourage you to apply via the earliest possible round, to improve your chances for consideration.

  • When will I know the outcome?

    The outcome will be dependent on the application process of the relevant School. Please contact your School for more details.

    The Faculty of Science will notify all applicants of the outcome.

What are the benefits?

Major award of up to $2,000 for costs associated with international travel (e.g. in-person conferences or fieldwork).

Minor award of up to $500 for costs associated with participation in online conferences that would normally be held outside Australia.
