  • Eligibility & selection criteria

    Eligibility

    To be eligible for this scholarship, you need to:

    • be enrolled at the University of Melbourne
    • provide evidence of financial need

    Selection criteria

    Eligible students are selected on the basis of financial need.

    Conditions

    • You must be enrolled as a full-time student in a course at the University of Melbourne. You may be eligible to receive this scholarship while enrolled as a part-time student.
    • You give permission for the University to provide your name and course details to the donor of your scholarship and to provide a brief report on the benefits of the scholarship upon request.
    • This scholarship cannot be deferred.
  • Application process

    Submit an online Student Financial Assessment form by the closing date.

    Applications usually open in early January.

  • When will I know the outcome?

    Successful applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application via email in April.

    Eligible students are considered for the following grants:

    Maud Isabella Aird Scholarship

    Offered to female students in financial need who are enrolled in a course within the faculty of Veterinary and Agricultural Sciences.

    Aitchison Scholarship

    Offered to undergraduate students in financial need who have completed not less than one year of a degree course.

    Donald Munro Armstrong Bursary

    Offered to students in financial need.

    John Baird Bursary

    Offered to students in financial need enrolled in a Doctor of Medicine course.

    Offered to students in financial need.

    Tom Benson Bursary

    Offered to students with a physical disability who are in financial need and enrolled in a Medical course.

    offered to students in financial need who are enrolled within the faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning, faculty of Engineering, faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences, faculty of Science, faculty of Veterinary and Agricultural Sciences or Melbourne School of Land and Environment.

    Edwin Nonus Smith Scholarship

    Offered to students in financial need to assist with the cost of living and study.

    Hilda Gibbons Bursary

    Offered to students in financial need, enrolled in a medical course and who intend to become general practitioners and not psychologists or psychiatrists.

    Glasson Williams Bursary

    Offered to students in financial need to assist with the cost of living and study.

    Margaret Harrap Bursary

    Offered to students in financial need.

    Georgiana Elizabeth Moore Hesketh Scholarship

    Offered to students in financial need who are enrolled within the faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences.

    Offered to Indigenous students in financial need and enrolled in a Bachelor of Arts (Extended) course.

    Offered to students in financial need and in their final year of study.

    Lucy Knapp Bursary

    Offered to students in financial need to assist and educate students by way of bursaries, supplies of books or otherwise.

    Mabel Kent Scholarship

    Offered to students in financial need who are enrolled in a Doctor of Medicine course.

    Donald Mackay Memorial Grant

    Offered to students in financial need.

    Jean and Alan Mackenzie Bursary

    Offered to students with disabilities to enhance their student experience.

    Walter and Muriel McConnan Scholarship

    Offered to students in financial need for the payment of fees, books, computers and/or the purchase of musical instruments and enrolled with the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music.

    John and Betty McCreery Scholarship

    Offered to students in financial need who are an Australian citizen and enrolled in a course within the faculty of Science.

    T. E. and E. R. Moran Bursary

    Offered to students in financial need.

    Oscar Adolf Oeser Grant

    Offered to students in financial need who are enrolled in a Final Honours or Postgraduate Psychology course.

    Madge O'Shanassy Bursary

    Offered to students in financial need.

    Offered to students in financial need.

    Robertson Scholarship

    Offered to assist physically handicapped students.

    Roma Bottomley Grant

    Offered to students in financial need.

    Saltau-Price Scholarship

    Offered to students in financial need and a preference may be given to former students of Warrnambool High School.

    William George Sharp Bursary

    Offered to students enrolled in a Doctor of Medicine course whose circumstances might without such assistance prevent them from pursuing a medical course.

    Sheridan Family Student Assistance Grant

    Offered to students in financial need.

    Samuel Leon Bursary in Medicine

    Offered to students in financial need currently enrolled in their second year of a Doctor of Medicine course.

    David Thompson Scholarship

    Offered to students in financial need studying engineering.

    William Henry Lord Bursary

    Offered to students in financial need who are enrolled within the Melbourne School of Land and Environment.
